Working towards Heritage NVQ Level 3 in Roofing Slating and Tiling

Robinson Roofing Group is seeking a motivated and reliable individual to join our award-winning team as a full-time Roofing Apprentice.
You will be fully supported through college and specialist training to achieve the Level 3 NVQ Diploma in Heritage Skills (Construction) – Roof Slating and Tiling Occupations.

(The Apprenticeship & Training Pathway)
This is a structured full-time apprenticeship designed to develop you into a skilled heritage roofing craftsperson.
You will:
- Work under the guidance of experienced Master Roofers on live projects
- Be enrolled on college and specialist training programmes
- Receive all necessary health & safety, working-at-height and industry training
- Build a portfolio of practical skills in traditional tiling, natural slating, heritage repairs, leadwork and complex detailing
- Progress towards the Level 3 NVQ Diploma in
(Heritage Skills – Roofing Slating and Tiling, Typical timescale)
- Overall programme: approximately 2–3 years, depending on progress
- Year 1 focuses on core roofing skills, site practice and foundational knowledge
- The specialist Heritage Level 3 pathway typically involves around 30 off-site training days spread over 12 months, combined with continuous on-site mentoring and portfolio assessment
- Training is delivered through a mix of day-release or block-release college attendance and workplace learning
We will put you through college and provide all the training and support needed to succeed.
Pay
- Year 1: Starting from the legal apprenticeship minimum of £8.00 per hour (approximately £15,600–£16,640 per year based on full-time hours)
- From Year 2: You will move onto the Real Living Wage (currently £13.45 per hour outside London), as we are a Certified Living Wage Employer
Who We’re Looking For
- Ideally aged 16–25
- Enthusiastic, reliable and keen to learn a highly skilled traditional trade
- Physically fit and comfortable (or willing to become comfortable) working at height
- Good attitude, attention to detail and team player
- Basic English and Maths (GCSEs or equivalent preferred – support available)
- No previous roofing experience required
- Full UK driving licence advantageous but not essential at the start
- Willingness to travel to sites across Hampshire and neighbouring counties
