Centrifuge & Telehandler Operator
Contract Type: Permanent Location: Hours of Work: Days (flexible; nights & weekends may be required based on operations) Salary: £30.160
Overtime- (paid time and a half Saturdays, double on Sundays)

The Role: We are recruiting a Centrifuge & Telehandler Operator to join our team on the Yorkshire Water contract. You will help with sludge handling and movement at wastewater treatment sites across Yorkshire. You will manage centrifuge operation, adjust running parameters, perform fault checks, and proactively comply with policies and procedures. Flexibility is key, as there may be a need to travel between sites and work nights/weekends to meet operational requirements. Safe working practices and good operational standards are essential.
Key Duties:
- Operate centrifuges, conveyors, and poly make-up plant
- Conduct telehandler operations, including loading trucks with the bucket
- Monitor equipment to ensure safe and efficient operation; respond to abnormal conditions (blockages, system failures, etc.)
- Maintain housekeeping standards in work areas and around equipment
- Carry out daily equipment checks (centrifuges, conveyors, poly make-up plant); report defects and consumables required (e.g., additional polymer)
- Monitor product throughput
- Perform additional trained tasks, such as greasing and preventative maintenance
Ideal Candidate:
- Valid telehandler license
- Good understanding of site safety standards
- Experience operating centrifuges and related equipment (poly make-up plant, conveyors)
- Knowledge of site golden rules, safety instructions, and procedures
- Willingness to undertake site-specific training
- Relevant experience in a similar role
- Strong problem-solving skills
- Flexible and able to work independently
- Excellent timekeeping; willing to work overtime as required
- Effective communication with colleagues, contractors, and clients at all levels
- Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines
