Job Description
Job Purpose
As a Mechanical Fitter, you will be working in a working shipyard and will be responsible for the mechanical upgrade, repair and refit in relation to projects on site. Duties to (include but not limited to) - installation and removal of mechanical equipment, operation of machinery and inspections/monitoring during operation. Alignment of machinery and drive chain to set tolerances using optical equipment. Machining and milling of small ad hoc parts required for equipment removal /installation.
Duties and Responsibilities

Dismantle and re-assemble mechanical assemblies.

Inspect equipment and identify faulty components.

Carry out preventative maintenance work on plant and equipment.

Align equipment to set tolerances

Test pipework and systems, commission systems.

Assist other disciplines when required.

Experience with overhead cranes and lifting equipment

Comfortable working at heights and in confined spaces

Undertake inspection of parts, sub-assemblies and finished products to ensure dimensional accuracy, quality and solid working function.

H&W Management Systems this is the responsibility of all H&W employees when conducting all processes and activities.
Qualifications
Essential
-
Time served mechanical fitter either in a shipyard or similar field activity where refit work was undertaken. · Relevant qualification, indentured apprenticeship, NVQ, City & Guilds etc.

Understanding of dimensional control techniques such as Electronic Distance Measuring (EDM).

Understanding of engineered drawings and technical documents. · Knowledge and compliance of work place safety.

Work execution independently according to valid instructions, rules and other standards.
