Roles are either ‘site based’ or ‘home based’.
Site based roles are mainly based at the workplace, with the option to work from home for up to two days a week, depending on service needs.
Home based roles are mainly based at home, with the expectation of attending the workplace up to one day a week.
The working arrangement for each role is set by the manager, based on service requirements.
Job Introduction
We're recruiting a Children's Services Support Officer to join our Corporate Parenting Business Support team.
Our team supports the social work teams in Corporate Parenting. They oversee and process payments and financial assessments for carers and external providers, as well as allowances for young people. Ensuring this work is completed to a high standard helps prevent overpayments while ensuring carers and young people receive the financial support they need. The team also provides essential administrative support and coordinates a range of statutory panels and meetings.
In this rewarding role, you'll help ensure that vital services for children, young people and carers run smoothly, accurately and on time. You'll play an important part in maintaining financial processes, supporting statutory meetings, managing information and helping colleagues deliver the best possible outcomes for children and young people.

Site-Based role
This is a Site-Based role, and you’ll be expected to work from the designated workplace.

Role Responsibilities
- Deliver high-quality business support across Children's Services, ensuring accurate record keeping and statutory timescales are met.

Produce detailed meeting minutes, monitor actions and coordinate meetings, panels, diaries and venues.

Process purchase orders, invoices, financial assessments and other finance-related activities using council systems.

Provide a professional first point of contact for service users, colleagues and partner organisations, maintaining confidentiality and promoting safeguarding awareness.

Support the induction, development and training of colleagues, temporary colleagues and apprentices, helping to create a positive team culture.

Assist with research, service improvements and safe working practices to support changing business needs and meet health and safety requirements.
Ideal Candidate
- NVQ Level 3 in Business Administration or an equivalent qualification, or significant administrative experience that demonstrates your ability to succeed in the role.

Strong communication skills and the ability to engage effectively with a range of audiences while handling sensitive and confidential information professionally.

Excellent Information Technology skills, including Microsoft Office, and the ability to learn new systems quickly and confidently.

The ability to prioritise competing demands, maintain accuracy and meet deadlines in a busy environment.

The ability to support change, solve problems and work collaboratively to find practical solutions.

Experience researching and gathering information to support business needs and decision-making.
