Adult Learn-to-Swim Instructor (Women's Evening Classes)Job Overview
We are looking for an enthusiastic and qualified Adult Learn-to-Swim Instructor to deliver women-only evening swimming lessons in a safe, supportive, and welcoming environment. This role is ideal for someone who is passionate about helping adult learners build confidence in the water, improve their swimming ability, and achieve their personal goals.
Lessons take place in our private, heated 25-metre swimming pool, providing an excellent environment for adults learning to swim. Classes are held in the evenings, making this role ideal for someone looking for part-time evening work.
This is a hands-on teaching role. The successful instructor must be comfortable getting into the water during lessons, as many of our adult learners benefit from demonstrations and close in-water support. Each lesson lasts one hour, allowing instructors to provide high-quality, personalised tuition in a relaxed and encouraging setting.
Responsibilities
- Plan and deliver engaging one-hour swimming lessons for adult women of all abilities.
- Teach from within the water where appropriate, providing demonstrations, guidance, and reassurance.
- Adapt lessons to suit individual learning styles, confidence levels, and swimming ability.
- Teach swimming techniques, water safety, breathing skills, and stroke development.
- Encourage participants through positive coaching and constructive feedback.
- Monitor progress and support swimmers in achieving their personal goals.
- Maintain a safe learning environment by following all health and safety procedures.
- Complete attendance records and communicate effectively with participants.
Essential Requirements
- Level 2 SEQ Swim Instructor qualification.
- Current NPLQ (or equivalent recognised lifeguard qualification).
- Previous experience teaching swimming, preferably to adults.
- Comfortable teaching from within the water for the duration of lessons.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Patient, encouraging, and professional approach to teaching.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Desirable
- Experience teaching beginner adult swimmers.
- Experience supporting nervous or anxious swimmers.
- First Aid qualification (if not included within current certification).
Working Hours
- Evening classes only.
- One-hour lessons.
- Part-time hours with opportunities for additional classes as demand grows.
