About the role
We are looking for a Movement Scheduler to join our team on the Skye Reinforcement Project, supporting the delivery of 132kV Overhead Line (OHL) and underground cabling works.
Reporting to the Logistics Manager, this is a critical role responsible for the forecasting, scheduling, and coordination of all LGV and HGV movements across the project. You will play a key part in ensuring efficient logistics operations, minimising disruption, and supporting safe and compliant delivery across a complex and geographically challenging project route.
What you'll be doing
- Develop and maintain a comprehensive movement schedule for all LGV and HGV activities
- Forecast logistics requirements in line with the construction programme and lookahead plans
- Coordinate movement schedules for:
- Material deliveries and general logistics
- Heavy plant mobilisation and demobilisation
- Fuel deliveries and servicing
- Welfare unit installation and maintenance
- Maintenance and support vehicles
- Ensure alignment of logistics plans with site access constraints and work front readiness
- Coordinate with project teams, subcontractors, and suppliers to sequence activities effectively
- Manage logistics clashes, congestion risks, and access limitations across the project
- Support integration of logistics across OHL and cable work fronts
- Interface with The Highland Council, SSEN, and key stakeholders to coordinate movement requirements
- Work closely with the CDM Coordinator to ensure safe access, risk identification, and compliance
- Support coordination with landowners and third parties impacted by logistics routes
- Maintain movement trackers, schedules, and performance dashboards
- Monitor planned vs actual movements, identifying risks and variances
- Produce regular reports on logistics performance, risks, and constraints
- Drive continuous improvement through logistics data analysis
- Ensure all logistics activities comply with Balfour Beatty IMS, health & safety, environmental, and CDM requirements
- Maintain clear, auditable records of planning decisions and communications
- Ensure all activities prioritise safety, efficiency, and minimal disruption, including contribution to carbon reduction initiatives
Who we're looking for
- Experience in logistics coordination, scheduling, or planning within construction or infrastructure
- Strong organisational and planning skills with attention to detail
- Ability to coordinate multiple stakeholders across a large project
- Strong communication and relationship-building skills
- Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office and scheduling tools
- Ability to manage competing priorities in a fast-paced environment
- Experience working on utilities, power, or civil infrastructure projects
- Knowledge of CDM regulations and logistics planning in construction
- Experience managing HGV/LGV movements in constrained or rural environments
- Understanding of environmental considerations and carbon tracking in logistics
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret logistics data and trends
