Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated Kitchen Porter to support our culinary team in maintaining a clean, organised, and efficient kitchen environment. This role is vital in ensuring smooth kitchen operations and assisting chefs with basic food preparation tasks. The ideal candidate will be proactive, reliable, and eager to develop their skills within the hospitality sector. Previous experience in food service or hospitality is advantageous but not essential, as training will be provided. This paid position offers an excellent opportunity to gain valuable experience in a busy restaurant or hotel setting.
Duties
- Wash, clean, and sanitise dishes, utensils, cookware, and kitchen equipment to uphold hygiene standards
- Assist with basic food preparation tasks under supervision, including peeling, chopping, and organising ingredients
- Support the kitchen team during service periods by ensuring all areas are tidy and well-stocked
- Maintain cleanliness of work surfaces, floors, and storage areas throughout shifts
- Dispose of waste appropriately and ensure recycling procedures are followed
- Assist with receiving deliveries and storing supplies correctly
- Follow health and safety regulations at all times to ensure a safe working environment
Skills
- Basic understanding of food preparation and cooking techniques is desirable
- Previous experience in a restaurant, hotel, or culinary environment is a plus but not mandatory
- Good organisational skills with the ability to prioritise tasks efficiently
- Strong attention to detail to maintain high standards of cleanliness and hygiene
- Ability to work effectively as part of a team in a fast-paced environment
