Job Summary
We are a well-established and growing landscaping company based in South London and are currently looking for an experienced 2-person Hard Landscaping team to work with us on a subcontract basis.
The role involves carrying out high-quality landscaping and garden construction projects for private residential and selected commercial clients across South London, mainly in and around Croydon, Sutton, Bromley, Wimbledon and surrounding areas.
This position is suitable for an established team of two experienced landscapers who are capable of working independently, organising their own workload on site and completing projects to a high professional standard.

Key Responsibilities
- Installing porcelain and natural stone paving
- Constructing patios, pathways and hard-standing areas
- Installing timber and composite decking
- Installing fencing, screening and boundary structures
- Building sleeper walls, raised beds and retaining structures
- Carrying out brickwork and basic masonry works
- Completing groundworks, foundations and sub-base preparation
- Preparing and compacting MOT Type 1 and other sub-base materials
- Accurately setting out levels, falls and drainage
- Measuring and setting out work areas
- Working from drawings, plans and project specifications
- Operating professional landscaping and construction tools
- Organising materials and daily work efficiently
- Maintaining a clean, safe and organised site
- Completing work within agreed timescales
- Maintaining a consistently high standard of workmanship
- Representing the company professionally when working at clients' properties
Subcontractor Position
This is a subcontractor role for an established 2-person landscaping team.
We are not currently looking for individual labourers or general gardeners for this position.
The successful team must be capable of carrying out the majority of allocated works independently and without constant supervision.
Regular projects are available throughout South London, with the potential for ongoing and long-term cooperation for the right team.
Requirements
- Must be an established team of 2 experienced Hard Landscapers
- Proven professional experience in hard landscaping and garden construction
- Strong experience installing porcelain and natural stone paving
- Experience with fencing, decking, sleeper construction and groundworks
- Ability to prepare sub-bases correctly
- Ability to accurately establish levels, falls and drainage
- Good knowledge of landscaping and construction methods
- Ability to work accurately from drawings and specifications
- Ability to organise and manage work independently
- Excellent attention to detail
- High standard of workmanship
- Reliable, punctual and professional
- Strong practical problem-solving ability
- Must be physically capable of undertaking demanding outdoor construction work
Own Tools and Equipment
The team must have its own professional tools and equipment required for standard hard landscaping and construction work.
This should include suitable hand tools, power tools and general landscaping equipment.
Experience using equipment such as cut-off saws, plate compactors, laser levels and similar machinery is required.
Portfolio Required
Applicants must be able to provide a portfolio of previous landscaping and construction projects demonstrating the quality of their work.

- Patios and pathways
- Timber and composite decking
- Fencing
- Sleeper walls and raised beds
- Brickwork
- Raised patios
- Groundworks
- Full garden renovation projects
The quality of previous work will be an important part of the selection process.
Location
All work is carried out exclusively in South London.
Applicants must therefore live locally or within a reasonable travelling distance of areas including:
- Croydon
- Sutton
- Bromley
- Wimbledon
- Surrounding South London areas
Teams based a significant distance from South London may not be considered.
Highly Desirable
- Own van or suitable work vehicle
- Experience transporting tools and materials
- Experience with drainage and groundwork systems
- Experience delivering complete garden renovation projects
- Ability to manage a project from initial ground preparation through to final finishing
Important
This position is for experienced professional landscapers with strong hard landscaping and construction skills.
General gardeners, general labourers or applicants without relevant hard landscaping experience will not be considered.
