We are looking for a warm, friendly, enthusiastic individual to join our wonderful team here at Home-Start Sittingbourne & Sheppey.
What we do
Home-Start Sittingbourne & Sheppey are a charity based in Sittingbourne. We recruit and train local volunteers. Once trained, volunteers are matched with a suitable local family. Volunteers help families with young children (at-least one under 5) by providing practical and emotional support within their own homes. Visits are made at the family’s homes so their confidentiality and individuality can be respected.
We are currently looking for a family support worker to join our team with a specific focus on working alongside families who are experiencing some issues with their mental health.
- 10 hours a week, £7,280 per annum.
- Year 2 of 2 for the ‘Health Minds Matter’ project.
- Weekly case load of 6 families at all times.
- Parenting experience and the use of a car is essential.
- Childcare qualification is essential.
- Knowledge of mental health / experience of working alongside those with mental health issues is essential.
- Knowledge of supporting families and Home-Start is essential.
This post requires the successful applicant to have existing knowledge and skills to work directly with mental heath issues in a family home environment alongside other mental health services or to ensure families have the right information and help to access these additional services.
Successful applicants will be required to complete any mandatory training or any that will assist them in their role with supporting families.
The role can be emotionally challenging therefore the successful applicant must feel comfortable and able to take on all the requirements set out in the application form & job description. The applicant must have a sound understanding of and be able to ensure their own emotional and physical wellbeing is protected.
Each family’s individual needs will be vastly different; therefore the successful applicant will need to have diverse skills in meeting these varying needs.
All posts held in Home-Start Sittingbourne and Sheppey are subject to funding and are generally on a 2/3/5-year term basis depending on the funding provider. This role is for year 2 of 2 for the ‘Healthy Minds Matter’ project.
