Deputy Nursery Manager – Woking
A future Nursery Manager starts here.
Some people are happy to remain a Deputy Manager.
Others are ready for more.
At Pip's Place, we're looking for someone who is ambitious, passionate about early years and ready to take the next step in their leadership journey.
You'll join our beautiful Woking nursery, working alongside an experienced Senior Nursery Manager who is committed to developing future leaders. This isn't simply a Deputy Manager position—it's an opportunity to learn, grow and prepare yourself to lead your own nursery as Pip's Place continues to expand across Surrey and Hampshire.
If you're looking for an organisation that will invest in your development, trust you with responsibility and genuinely support your career progression, we'd love to hear from you.
About Pip's Place
At Pip's Place, we believe every child deserves exceptional care and an individual journey.
We're a family-owned nursery group built around meaningful relationships, inspiring environments and a child-led approach to learning. We believe children thrive when they feel safe, valued and curious, and we believe practitioners thrive when they feel trusted, supported and inspired.
As we continue to grow, we're committed to developing our leaders from within wherever possible.
The role
As Deputy Nursery Manager, you'll play a key role in the day-to-day leadership of the nursery.
Working closely with the Senior Nursery Manager, you'll help create a positive culture where children flourish, families feel welcomed and practitioners are supported to be the very best they can be.
You'll have genuine opportunities to take ownership, lead projects, coach colleagues and gradually build the confidence and experience needed to progress into a Nursery Manager role.
This role is ideal for an experienced Deputy Manager who feels ready to take the next step.
What you'll be doing
You'll:
- Support the day-to-day leadership and organisation of the nursery.
- Lead the nursery confidently in the absence of the Senior Nursery Manager.
- Coach and support practitioners and Room Leaders through positive leadership and encouragement.
- Help maintain exceptional standards of care, education and safeguarding.
- Build strong relationships with children, families and colleagues.
- Support recruitment, induction and the development of new team members.
- Carry out supervisions, observations and coaching conversations.
- Help maintain inspiring learning environments across the nursery.
- Support occupancy by delivering outstanding experiences for prospective and existing families.
- Contribute to quality improvement projects and continuous development.
- Learn the wider responsibilities of Nursery Management through mentoring and practical experience.
Who we're looking for
We're looking for someone who loves developing people just as much as they love working with children.
You'll be approachable, organised and motivated to continually improve yourself and those around you.
You'll ideally have:
- A full and relevant Level 3 qualification or above in Early Years.
- Experience as a Deputy Manager or active Third in Charge
- Strong knowledge of the EYFS and safeguarding responsibilities.
- Excellent communication and organisational skills.
- A positive, solution-focused attitude.
- A genuine passion for delivering exceptional experiences for children and families.
Most importantly, you'll be someone who wants to build a long-term career with Pip's Place.
What you'll receive
At Pip's Place, we don't just recruit leaders—we develop them.
We offer:
- Competitive salary dependent on experience.
- Performance-related bonus.
- 33 days annual leave, plus an additional wellbeing day each year.
- Free childcare.
- Regular coaching and mentoring from an experienced Senior Nursery Manager.
- Opportunities to lead projects and develop your leadership skills.
- A clear pathway towards a Nursery Manager position as the organisation grows.
- Ongoing professional development and funded training.
- Beautiful environments with thoughtfully chosen resources.
- A warm, supportive culture where your ideas are welcomed and your contribution is valued.
