Cook/Chef – Waterloo House Care Home, Blyth, £14.00 per hour
About the Role
We are looking for an experienced and enthusiastic Cook to join our friendly team at Waterloo House.
Waterloo House is a warm, welcoming care home with a strong family feel, active social calendar and close links with the local community. Food is an important part of daily life here, and we are looking for someone who takes pride in preparing fresh, nutritious and enjoyable meals that residents look forward to.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare and serve nutritious, varied meals throughout the day.
- Take residents' preferences and dietary requirements into consideration.
- Prepare texture-modified and special diets where required.
- Maintain high standards of food hygiene, cleanliness and presentation.
- Complete food safety, temperature and other required checks.
- Manage food ordering, stock control and costs within budget.
- Work closely with the care team to understand residents' needs and preferences.
- Support and organise other catering staff as required.
About You
We're looking for someone who:
- Has previous experience as a Cook, ideally in a care home or similar setting.
- Has a genuine passion for good food and takes pride in their work.
- Understands food hygiene and safe food preparation.
- Can work independently while being part of a wider team.
- Is friendly, approachable and enjoys getting to know the people they cook for.
