Job Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and motivated Volunteer Royal Marine Cadet Detachment Commander at Kings Lynn Sea Cadets to lead and inspire young cadets within a dynamic military youth organization the Sea Cadets. This role offers an exciting opportunity to develop leadership skills, foster teamwork, and contribute to the personal growth of our members. The Detachment Commander will be responsible for planning, organizing, and overseeing all activities, ensuring a safe and engaging environment that promotes discipline, resilience, and community spirit. This Voluntary unpaid position is ideal for individuals passionate about youth development, military training, and community service.
Duties
- Lead and manage the daily operations of the Royal Marine Cadet detachment, including training sessions, drills, and educational activities
- Develop engaging lesson plans and activity schedules that promote leadership, teamwork, and personal development among cadets
- Ensure all activities adhere to safety standards and organizational policies, maintaining a secure environment for all participants
- Foster a positive team atmosphere by motivating cadets, providing mentorship, and encouraging personal achievement
- Coordinate with external agencies and community partners to enhance program offerings and support network
- Maintain accurate records of attendance, progress reports, and activity logs using Microsoft Excel and other IT tools
- Deliver presentations and briefings using Microsoft PowerPoint to communicate program goals, achievements, and upcoming events
Experience
- Proven leadership experience in a youth or military organization or similar setting
- Strong analysis skills with the ability to assess training needs and adapt activities accordingly
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite including Word, Excel, PowerPoint.
- Excellent communication skills in English to effectively engage with cadets, parents, staff, and external partners
- Demonstrated organizational skills with the ability to plan multiple activities simultaneously while managing time efficiently
