Purpose of the role:
To provide competent electrical maintenance, fault-finding, planned preventive maintenance and day-to-day operational support across Pall Mall and Woodcote Park, ensuring that electrical systems, plant and associated services are safe, reliable, compliant and maintained to the standards expected of the Club.
The role will be to support both clubhouses, work closely with the Maintenance Manager and existing engineering teams, and contribute to knowledge transfer, asset familiarisation, succession planning and reduced reliance on external contractors where appropriate.
This role will be based across both clubhouses in Epsom and London.
Responsibilities:
- Carry out electrical planned preventive maintenance, reactive repairs, inspections and minor installation works across Pall Mall and Woodcote Park.
- Diagnose and resolve electrical faults safely and effectively, escalating specialist or higher-risk works where required.
- Maintain and support distribution boards, switchgear, motors, pumps, contactors, control circuits and associated building services equipment.
- Carry out safe isolation procedures and ensure all electrical work is undertaken in line with the Electricity at Work Regulations, BS 7671 and Club procedures.
- Read and interpret electrical drawings, schematics, circuit schedules and asset information to support fault-finding, repairs and planned works.
- Identify, test and clearly document electrical defects, remedial recommendations and follow-up actions.
- Support statutory and compliance-related electrical requirements, including fire-related electrical systems, emergency lighting interfaces and other safety-critical systems as required.
- Inspect the support call log daily and ensure electrical requests are prioritised, actioned and closed out in a timely manner.
- Support function sheets and event requirements, ensuring banqueting rooms, member areas and operational spaces are prepared to the required standard.
- Order or request the necessary equipment, parts and materials for day-to-day electrical maintenance activity, in line with Club procedures.
- Assist with asset familiarisation and knowledge transfer across both Clubhouses, helping to protect site knowledge and improve team resilience.
- Support the Maintenance Manager with contractor coordination, site access, work quality, reporting and follow-up where specialist electrical contractors are engaged.
- Maintain accurate maintenance records, test information, inspection notes and remedial recommendations.
- Ensure a safe and healthy working environment by following Club health, safety, hygiene, fire and environmental policies and procedures.
About you:
- Recognised Level 3 electrical qualification, such as City & Guilds Electrical Installation, Electrical Maintenance or equivalent.
- Current BS 7671 18th Edition Wiring Regulations qualification.
- Current Electrotechnical Certification Scheme Gold Card as a Maintenance Electrician or Installation Electrician.
- Proven experience of three-phase electrical systems within a commercial environment.
- Strong electrical fault-finding and diagnostic skills.
- Experience maintaining distribution boards, switchgear, motors, pumps, contactors and control circuits.
- Demonstrable competence in safe isolation procedures.
- Good understanding of electrical installation, maintenance and repair.
- Basic understanding of data and communications cabling.
- Ability to remain calm and respond effectively under pressure.
- Good written and verbal communication skills.
- Good interpersonal skills and a professional manner.
- Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
