Job Overview
We are seeking a dedicated Warehouse Operative to join our team in Chesterfield, working across day and night shifts. This role involves supporting the efficient operation of our warehouse through materials handling, stock management, and order fulfilment. The ideal candidate will be physically fit, organised, and have a proactive approach to safety and quality standards. Previous warehouse experience is preferred but not essential, as training will be provided. This position offers an excellent opportunity to develop your skills within a dynamic logistics environment.
This role is suited for people looking to make extra money, or students looking for part-time work. Shifts are 4 on 4 off, with work across the month but mainly towards the end of the month, with a rotating schedule, roles are usually 8-12 hours a shift. Day shifts are from 10am-6pm, night shifts are from 6pm-2am.
Responsibilities
- Handling materials efficiently, including loading and unloading goods using appropriate equipment such as forklifts
- Picking and packing orders accurately to meet customer specifications
- Managing stock levels through regular stocking and inventory checks
- Operating warehouse management systems to track inventory movements and order processing
- Assisting with shipping and receiving activities, ensuring timely dispatch and receipt of goods
- Conducting quality control checks to maintain high standards of product integrity
- Performing heavy lifting tasks safely and effectively during daily operations
- Ensuring the warehouse remains clean, organised, and compliant with health and safety regulations
- Supporting mechanical maintenance tasks where necessary to ensure equipment functionality
Experience
- Previous experience in a warehouse environment is mandatory
- Familiarity with materials handling equipment such as forklifts is advantageous; certification is preferred but not essential as training can be arranged
- Knowledge of warehouse management systems (WMS) will be beneficial for efficient stock control and order processing
- Experience with shipping & receiving processes, picking & packing, and stock management will contribute to successful performance in this role
- Mechanical knowledge or experience with equipment maintenance is a plus but not required
- Ability to perform heavy lifting safely and work effectively in a physically demanding environment is essential
