Care Assistants (Night)– looking for staff wanting 2 or 3 nights per week, 12 hour shifts 8pm to 8am. To join our highly skilled team of night care staff and/or provide cover for staff holidays and sickness in long established and respected busy care home dedicated to providing high standards of care to vulnerable elderly residents. Staff join our care team in our rota system and it is essential that you are prepared to offer varied shift days and times including occasional day shifts. Position Responsibilities
To carry out duties in accordance with and subject to
- Any rules regulation or policies, as laid down by the Directors, Care Manager or Care Quality Commission,
- Any rules regulations or policies laid down by your employers
- Instruction from Senior Carer, Care Manager and Directors
- To carry out the duties of a Care Assistant.
Personal Care
- To provide personal care to service users in accordance with their care plan.
- To ensure that all staff maintain and promote basic values, choice dignity privacy and independence
- To ensure service users needs are identified and met, and monitor that care is carried in accordance with the care plan.
- To add to care plans any change in the needs of the service users.
- To be responsible for the health and safety of all persons on the property.
- To document comments or complaints and bring to the attention of the care manager or directors.
- Act as a key worker for a designated number of service users within the Care Home environment. Contribute to the care planning process, accurately completing all necessary records.
- Assist in serving meals to residents particularly those who require help with feeding
- Maintain confidentiality of information regarding residents, visitors and staff.
Social Activities
- To plan and prepare activities and motivate the service users involvement
- To listen to service users comments and ideas.
- Actively participate in the carer role to encourage the physical and mental stimulation of the residents who are unable to take an active part in the activities programme within the home
Relationships
- Inform relative of progress or important changes to service users.
- Form effective relations with all outside agencies including GP’s, District Nurses, CPN’s,
Premises
- To be responsible for security of the home.
- To report to Senior Carer, Care Manager or Directors, any repairs or maintenance to maintain standards.
- To support domestic staff to maintain a clean odour free environment
- Ensure all aspects of the environment are clean and tidy, particularly the service users rooms and en suite facilities
Holiday sickness cover
- To cover for staff holidays and sickness leave when required.
Administration
- To be responsible for ensuring all documentation is current accurate and legible.
- When taking responsibility for the role of the social carer make certain that brief notes are recorded in the PCS computerised daily diary.
