What you’ll do
As a Senior Auditor, you will take the lead on a range of risk-based internal audit assignments across our partner organisations. You will work with colleagues and clients to review governance, risk management and control arrangements, produce clear and practical recommendations, and help organisations improve the way they work. This is an excellent opportunity for someone who combines strong technical skills with sound judgement, effective communication and a collaborative approach.
In this role, you will:
· plan, scope and deliver internal audit assignments in line with agreed objectives, methodology and professional standards;
· identify and evaluate key risks and controls, undertake proportionate testing and maintain clear, evidence-based working papers;
· analyse evidence, apply professional judgement and reach balanced conclusions on the effectiveness of governance, risk management and control;
· prepare clear, concise reports that set out findings, risk implications and practical recommendations;
· build effective working relationships with clients and colleagues, communicating with clarity, credibility and professionalism;
· manage your workload effectively, delivering high-quality work to deadline and adapting to changing priorities where required;
· contribute to continuous improvement by sharing learning, supporting consistency of practice and maintaining your professional knowledge through CPD;
· use appropriate audit techniques, data and insight to support effective, proportionate and value-adding audit work; and

What you’ll need
Essential criteria
· Experience of planning and delivering internal audit assignments, including assessing risks and controls, testing evidence and reporting findings.
· A sound understanding of internal audit principles, governance, risk management and internal control.
· Ability to analyse information, apply professional judgement and produce clear, evidence-based conclusions and practical recommendations.
· Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to build effective working relationships with a range of stakeholders.
· Ability to manage and prioritise work effectively, with appropriate support where needed, and deliver high-quality work to deadlines.
· A relevant internal audit qualification (for example CMIIA or CIA), or the ability to work towards a professional qualification.
· Commitment to continuous professional development and maintaining up-to-date professional knowledge.
· Full right to work in the UK.
It would also be helpful if you have
· Experience of internal audit within local government or the wider public sector.
· Experience of using data analytics or other audit tools to support delivery and insight.
· Knowledge of IT audit, systems controls or digital risks.
