Smartkem, Inc. is creating a small, independent UK-based scientific team to explore new business opportunities. The new group will look for opportunities with commercial and academic organisations within the electronic materials domain. It is essential that all team members work flexibly to adapt to the changing needs of the new business and take a collaborative approach with colleagues and clients. Team members are expected to take part in business development activities.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Separation of IT systems as required by the restructuring of Smartkem.
- Ensuring compliance with relevant data protection and security standards.
- Design and provision of appropriate IT support for the reduced UK team.
- Building a website for the materials business.
- Rationalising IT systems to support the ongoing businesses.
- Production of high-quality technical data to support product sales.
- Structuring, and processing of business and application data, using AI and other methodologies.
- Assisting with grant applications.
- Providing support for office and laboratory-based IT equipment.
- Managing any external IT related contracts.
KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS REQUIRED
- Knowledge of IT hardware and software as used in Smartkem.
- Knowledge of IT & data protection standards applicable to the US business and UK team.
- Skills in data processing, database design and automation through scripting.
- Knowledge of modern data analysis methods including the use of AI techniques.
- Experience of IUK grant application is advantageous.
- Familiarity with chemical and application test and data analysis is desirable.
- Knowledge of chemistry and the industry in which Smartkem operates is advantageous as is and understanding of the sources and structure of data used in the field.
- Skills in critical information finding.

Pay: £36,122.64-£89,329.98 per year
