Working alongside our Retail Facilities Manager, you'll be responsible for carrying out a wide range of planned and reactive maintenance tasks across our shops. No two days are the same. One day you may be completing repairs or decorating a shop, and the next you could be carrying out fire safety checks, supporting a new shop opening, or helping maintain outdoor areas.
This role offers the opportunity to make a meaningful contribution to the work of East Anglia's Children's Hospices (EACH), supporting the retail income that helps fund care and support for children, young people and their families.
What you'll be doing
- Carrying out planned and reactive maintenance across our retail estate
- Undertaking minor repairs including carpentry, plumbing, decorating and general building maintenance
- Completing health and safety, fire safety and maintenance checks
- Supporting the upkeep of shop interiors and exteriors to ensure they remain safe and welcoming
- Assisting with maintenance requirements for new shop openings and refurbishments
- Working with volunteers and external contractors where appropriate
- Maintaining accurate records of maintenance activities and inspections
About you
We're looking for someone who can work independently, manage their workload effectively and take pride in delivering high-quality maintenance work.
You'll need:
- Experience in general building maintenance, construction or a recognised trade
- Knowledge of materials, methods and tools used in construction, repair or maintenance work
- Good understanding of health and safety requirements
- Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail
- Good communication and IT skills
- A flexible approach and the ability to organise and prioritise work
