E-commerce Customer Service Assistant
Are you an enthusiastic and motivated individual with excellent customer service skills?
We're looking for someone with the right personality to join our friendly team as the first point of contact for our online customers.
Ridgid Toolshop is the UK's largest online RIDGID tool stockist, supplying trade professionals and businesses across the country. We're part of Pipe Tool Specialists Ltd, established in 1964 and based in Lincoln and we're proud of just how long people tend to stay with us, several colleagues have been here for over 20 years, some over 30, and a couple for more than 40.
About the role
You'll be the first person Ridgid Toolshop customers speak to, whether that's over the phone, by email, live chat, or through the orders that come in via our website. Day to day you'll be:
- Processing customer orders from our website
- Answering incoming telephone calls
- Responding to emails and live chat enquiries
- Helping out with general office duties as required
- Learning our product range over time so you can advise customers with confidence
We know you won't arrive knowing everything about our products, that's fine. We'll teach you the basics, and the rest comes with time. What we can't teach is a good attitude, a strong work ethic, friendly manner, and the ability to think on your feet, so that's what we're really looking for.
What you'll need
- Excellent keyboard skills
- Strong written and spoken English (GCSE level or above)
- Basic proficiency in Microsoft Office
- A confident, friendly telephone manner
- The ability to react quickly and accurately to customer requests
- A team player who's also comfortable being the first point of contact
Previous experience is welcome but not essential, we care more about who you are than what's on paper.
Hours
Monday to Friday, 08:30 – 16:00, with a one-hour lunch break. (32.5 hour week)
Pay
£12.75 per hour, reviewed each April.
What we offer
- 4 weeks' holiday per year (bookable) plus all statutory bank holidays
- Casual dress code
- Free staff parking
- Genuine job stability, with a track record of long-serving staff who've built their careers here
We're an Employee Ownership Trust, this means the company is owned by its employees, not outside shareholders. As part of the team, you'll have a genuine stake in how the business performs and a say in its future, along with a share in the company's success. We also always prefer to promote from within, so there's real scope to progress as you grow with us.
How to apply
Please send your CV together with a cover letter telling us a little about yourself.
Applications without a cover letter will not be considered. we want to know who you are, not just what you've done.
