Job Specific Duties & Responsibilities
As a Chef you will be responsible for the preparation, cooking and presentation of foods prepared in order to satisfy and exceed the expectations of guests. You will be responsible for looking after the areas you work within, making sure they are clean, tidy, and well maintained at all times. You will have a sound awareness of Health and Safety and Food Hygiene rules and regulations and work in a manner which complies with them at all times. You will be responsible for upholding the highest standards in terms of food quality and the effectiveness and efficiency with which you produce food items. You will be expected to work in a professional manner, being flexible, dynamic, proactive, and enthusiastic and will have sound communication skills to ensure internal and external guests receive outstanding service, always with a smile.
You will be expected to:
● Maintain high levels of personal hygiene and immaculate presentation.
● Work well within the team, communicating effectively with all necessary team members to ensure guests receive the highest level of products and service within good time and to ensure all preparation, closing down and other associated tasks are completed effectively and efficiently.
● Show respect to fellow colleagues.
● Respond to the dynamics of the service environment, being proactive at quiet times whilst anticipating and meeting the needs of the fast-paced restaurant environment.
● Prepare and cook hot dishes that are served using organisational skills to ensure this is done in a timely and effective manner and that food are stored and served always at the correct temperatures
● Keep the kitchen and grill area are tidy and clean, using the ‘clean as you go’ approach to be more effective and efficient.
● Assist with kitchen porter duties such as cleaning crockery and cutlery whenever required.
● Assist with meat preparation and cooking whenever required.
● Comply with set standards of preparation and cooking techniques and set methods of serving food items
● Provide a courteous and efficient service to all members and external guest that you come into contact with, not forgetting to smile and offering assistance/advice where it might be welcomed.
● Be prepared to work as part of a team as well as on your own at times.
● Ensure serving utensils, cutlery and crockery used are clean.
● Communicate with managers, the bar/cafe team and waiting staff with regards to special requests and preparation times of specific foods that have been ordered, always in a patient and courteous manner.
● Place food orders with suppliers.
● Check supplied goods are arrive in the right condition and that they match the order placed (check of the delivery note against what has actually arrived and against the order sheet) and that if anything arrives that is not in good condition or was not ordered is sent back and a record has been made of the discrepancy.
