Electrical Apprentice – Industrial & Energy Systems
Build your electrical career working on large-scale industrial, commercial and energy projects.
We’re looking for a reliable, hardworking and enthusiastic Electrical Apprentice to join our team.
This isn’t a domestic electrical apprenticeship. You’ll be working alongside experienced engineers on industrial and commercial power systems and specialist energy projects across the UK, gaining practical experience on a wide range of electrical and control systems.
Almost every project involves working away from home during the week, so this role is best suited to someone who is comfortable travelling, staying away and working long hours as part of a site team.
The type of work you'll be involved in
You’ll gain hands-on experience across projects involving:
- Industrial and commercial electrical power systems
- Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS)
- Solar PV systems
- Combined Heat & Power (CHP) systems
- Large commercial and industrial heat pumps
- Controls and automation
- Instrumentation
- Control panels
- Motors, pumps and plant equipment
- Cable containment, cabling and terminations
- Electrical distribution systems
- Testing, commissioning and fault finding
You’ll work across a variety of sites and industries, giving you exposure to systems and equipment that many electrical apprentices won't experience during their training.
What we're looking for
Attitude is more important than experience.
You must be:
- Reliable and punctual – we need someone the team can depend on.
- Genuinely eager to learn – someone who listens, asks questions and wants to understand how things work.
- Willing to get stuck in – this is a practical, hands-on role.
- Prepared to work away from home regularly – almost every project will involve staying away during the working week.
- Willing to work occasional weekends when projects require it.
- Comfortable working in industrial and commercial environments.
- Able to follow instructions and work safely as part of a team.
- Motivated to develop into a highly skilled electrical engineer.
What we offer
- A recognised Electrical Apprenticeship
- Hands-on training
- Experience on major industrial and commercial projects
- Exposure to renewable energy and low-carbon technologies
- Experience with electrical, controls and instrumentation systems
- Opportunities to gain additional qualifications and manufacturer training
- A clear development route from apprentice through to qualified engineer
- Long-term career and progression opportunities within the business
Important – Working Away
This role involves significant travel throughout the UK.
You should expect to work away from home most weeks, typically staying near project sites during the working week and returning home when the project schedule allows.
Accommodation and applicable travel arrangements will be provided in accordance with company policy.
Who we're looking for
We want someone who sees this as the start of a long-term engineering career, not simply an apprenticeship.
You don’t need to arrive knowing everything. We can teach you the technical skills.
What we need from you is reliability, a strong work ethic, curiosity and a genuine willingness to learn and get involved.
If you want to develop your career working on industrial power, renewable energy, controls and complex electrical systems, we'd like to hear from you.
Apply with your CV and a short introduction explaining why you want to pursue a career in electrical engineering.
