OH Medical is recruiting for an experienced Senior Occupational Health Advisor to join a collaborative Occupational Health Unit.
This is an excellent opportunity for a qualified Occupational Health professional to take on a key clinical and leadership role within a highly respected public sector organisation. Working across a multi-force environment, you will help deliver a high-quality occupational health service while supporting the development of the wider occupational health team.
The Role
As a Senior Occupational Health Advisor, you will play a pivotal role in the day-to-day delivery of occupational health services across the three-force collaboration. You will provide expert clinical guidance on complex cases, support service development initiatives, and help ensure the service operates in line with professional standards, clinical governance requirements, and key performance indicators.
The role also includes leadership responsibilities, providing support and guidance to Occupational Health Nurses and Technicians while acting as a deputy for senior colleagues when required.
Based in Welwyn Garden City, you will be expected to attend site a minimum of two days per week, with regular travel across Bedfordshire, Cambridgeshire, and Hertfordshire.
Key Responsibilities Clinical Practice
- Manage and oversee occupational health case management activities, including referral triage, allocation, and quality assurance
- Provide specialist occupational health advice on complex employee cases
- Conduct and oversee fitness-for-work assessments, health surveillance, and screening programmes
- Support managers and stakeholders with evidence-based occupational health recommendations
Leadership & Team Development
- Provide leadership and support to Occupational Health Nurses and Technicians
- Promote professional development, clinical excellence, and continuous learning within the team
- Support workforce planning and service delivery objectives
Governance & Service Improvement
- Ensure compliance with occupational health legislation, professional standards, and clinical governance requirements
- Lead audits and quality improvement activities
- Identify service trends and contribute to ongoing service development initiatives
- Support the achievement of operational performance targets and KPIs
About You
To be considered for this role, you will have:
- Registered General Nurse qualification with current NMC registration
- Occupational Health qualification (Degree, Diploma, or equivalent)
- Significant post-qualification experience within occupational health
- Experience managing complex occupational health caseloads
- Previous experience leading or supporting multidisciplinary occupational health teams
- Strong communication, leadership, and stakeholder management skills
- Recent experience delivering health surveillance programmes, screening services, and safety-critical medical assessments
Additional Requirements
- Ability to meet vetting requirements
- Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel extensively across the Bedfordshire, Cambridgeshire, and Hertfordshire region
- Ability to attend locations where public transport links may be limited
