Job Advert – Gallery Manager
We have an exciting opportunity to join our Stratford-upon-Avon gallery at an important time of growth within the business.
As part of a successful and established contemporary art group, we’re looking for a passionate, commercially driven Gallery Manager to lead the team, grow our client base and take ownership of the gallery’s performance.
An art background is not essential. What matters is a proven track record in sales, strong leadership skills and a genuine ability to build lasting client relationships. We’ll immerse you in the world of contemporary art and support your development into an exceptional art dealer and gallery leader.
What we’re looking for….
As Gallery Manager, you will:
- Lead and inspire your team to achieve individual and gallery sales targets
- Drive your own personal sales and develop a portfolio of loyal, high value clients
- Proactively generate opportunities through client outreach, appointments, events and home visits
- Deliver an exceptional and highly personal client experience
- Coach and develop your team, creating a positive and ambitious sales culture
- Take ownership of gallery curation, merchandising and presentation
- Plan and deliver exhibitions, events and local partnerships to grow the business
- Manage gallery performance, administration and day-to-day operations
We’re looking for someone who is ambitious, energetic, personable and commercially focused. You’ll be comfortable working to targets, developing new business and leading from the front.
Experience within luxury retail, interiors, property, automotive, jewellery, hospitality or another relationship-led sales environment would be particularly relevant. Previous art industry experience is welcome but not essential.
At the heart of our business is relationship led selling. Our most successful people don’t simply wait for clients to walk through the door. They build relationships, understand their clients and create opportunities, helping customers find artwork they’ll enjoy for years to come.
Working hours - This is a full-time, 40-hour-per-week role. Our galleries operate seven days a week, and working days will vary in accordance with the rota. As weekends are an important trading period, you will normally be expected to work at least three weekends per month.
Some evening and UK travel will be required for events, client appointments, home visits and occasional support at other galleries.
If you’re an ambitious sales leader who loves people, beautiful products and creating exceptional client experiences, we’d love to hear from you.
Please note: The salary shown is inclusive of OTE and commission is uncapped.
