The Club
The Oxford and Cambridge Club is an exclusive private members Club with a Grade II*-listed Clubhouse in central London. The Club has 46 bedrooms, a fine dining restaurant, 3 banqueting suites, 2 bars, 2 squash courts, a billiards room and extensive libraries. The Club has nearly 5000 members.
The Role
We are recruiting for a Sommelier to join our dynamic team. The ideal candidate will have previous experience of the role in a similar environment and a friendly, customer-focused demeanour. The role is a full time position working 40 hours per week, any 5 days out of 7 including evenings, weekends and public holidays.
The main duties are
- Recommend fine wines and beverages to Members and guests
- Be knowledgeable about the different varieties of wines
- Ensure wines are stored and served at the right temperature
- To maintain appropriate levels of stock
- Ensure all Food Hygiene and Health & Safety policies and allergen control procedures are followed
The Person
The ideal candidate will have previous experience of the role in a similar environment and a friendly, customer-focussed demeanour.
We are looking for someone who is:
- Ideally have at least 2 years experience working as Wine Waiter/Waitress or Sommelier
- Must have a WSET level 2 but preferably 3 or equivalent
- Highly personable, passionate about delivering 5* service and thrives in a busy working environment where no two shifts are ever the same.
- Passion for hospitality with a friendly disposition to smile
- Reliable, professional and good team player
- Excellent communication skills with good spoken and written English
