Job Summary:
Avenaco Automation UK Ltd. is seeking a Senior Industrial Automation Manager to lead the design, implementation, and optimization of industrial automation systems across manufacturing and industrial operations. The role is responsible for overseeing automation strategy, control systems engineering, digital transformation initiatives, and multidisciplinary engineering teams while ensuring operational efficiency, safety, and continuous improvement.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead the development and execution of industrial automation strategies aligned with business objectives, operational excellence, and Industry 4.0 initiatives
- Oversee the design, implementation, commissioning, and maintenance of PLC, SCADA, DCS, HMI, robotics, and industrial control systems
- Manage automation projects from concept through completion, including project planning, budgeting, scheduling, resource allocation, and risk management
- Collaborate with electrical, mechanical, process, production, maintenance, and IT teams to deliver integrated automation solutions
- Ensure compliance with UK health and safety regulations, machinery safety standards, cybersecurity requirements for operational technology (OT), and relevant industrial standards
- Monitor system performance, production KPIs, equipment reliability, and automation effectiveness while driving continuous improvement and predictive maintenance initiatives
- Manage relationships with equipment manufacturers, automation vendors, systems integrators, and external engineering consultants
- Recruit, mentor, and develop automation engineers, control systems specialists, instrumentation engineers, and technical teams while fostering a culture of innovation, safety, and engineering excellence
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Automation Engineering, Mechatronics, Industrial Engineering, Control Systems Engineering, or a related field (Master's degree preferred)
- Extensive experience in industrial automation, control systems engineering, manufacturing technology, or automation leadership within industrial environments
- Strong expertise in PLC programming (Siemens, Allen-Bradley/Rockwell, Schneider Electric), SCADA, HMI, DCS, industrial networking, robotics, motion control, and instrumentation systems
- Experience with Industrial Ethernet, OPC UA, Modbus, Profibus, Profinet, MES systems, IIoT technologies, and industrial cybersecurity best practices
- Familiarity with Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, predictive maintenance, and smart factory/Industry 4.0 technologies is highly desirable
- Professional certifications such as TÜV Functional Safety Engineer, Siemens Certified Programmer, Rockwell Automation certifications, PMP, PRINCE2, or equivalent are advantageous
- Excellent leadership, communication, analytical, project management, problem-solving, and stakeholder management skills

Pay: £70,000.00-£95,000.00 per year
