Opening in August 2026, The Lyon is an exciting new gastropub and late-night destination located in the heart of Edinburgh's George Street.
With exceptional food at its core, a premium drinks offering, live music and a vibrant atmosphere, The Lyon aims to become one of the city's most exciting hospitality venues. We are looking for a friendly and professional Part Time Restaurant Host to join our opening team and be the first point of contact for our guests.
As a Restaurant Host at The Lyon, you will be responsible for creating a warm welcome from the moment guests arrive. You will manage reservations, coordinate seating and help ensure every guest receives outstanding hospitality throughout their visit. This role will predominantly be Friday and Saturday evenings, although additional shifts may be available depending on the needs of the business.
Key Responsibilities
- Welcome guests with a warm, friendly and professional approach
- Manage reservations and walk in guests efficiently using our booking system
- Coordinate table seating to maximise service flow and guest experience
- Maintain accurate waitlists and communicate expected waiting times clearly
- Work closely with the restaurant and bar teams to ensure smooth service throughout the venue
- Assist with guest enquiries and resolve minor issues confidently and professionally
- Maintain a clean, organised and welcoming reception area at all times
What We're Looking For
- Previous experience in a customer facing hospitality role is preferred
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- A warm, confident and professional manner
- Strong organisational skills and attention to detail
- Ability to remain calm and efficient during busy service periods
- A positive attitude and willingness to support the wider team whenever required
- Flexibility to predominantly work Friday and Saturday evenings, with additional shifts available depending on the needs of the business
- A genuine passion for hospitality and creating memorable first impressions
