Children's Residential Support Worker (CRSW)

Location: Honeypot Children's Charity, New Forest, Hampshire
Contract: Temporary position, Immediate Start Available (Fixed-Term Contract to 31 March 2027).
Salary: £13.45 per hour plus £64 overnight allowance for each residential night worked.
Job Purpose
The Children's Residential Support Worker plays a key role in delivering Honeypot's residential respite breaks, wellbeing programmes and activities for young carers and vulnerable children.
Working as part of the Children's Services Team, you will help create a safe, nurturing and engaging environment where children can have fun, build confidence, develop friendships and create positive childhood memories.
You will act as a positive role model at all times, supporting children's emotional wellbeing while helping to deliver high-quality activities, experiences and opportunities that enable every child to get the very best from their time with Honeypot.
About the Role
This is not a typical care role.
One moment you'll be leading a game, supporting an arts and crafts activity, encouraging a child to try something new, or helping children build confidence through play and adventure.
The next, you'll be supporting mealtimes, helping to maintain a welcoming environment, encouraging positive behaviour or supporting a child who may be feeling anxious, homesick or lacking confidence.
You'll become part of a close-knit team that works together to create a safe, positive and memorable experience for every child who attends a Honeypot break.
Key Responsibilities Supporting Children

Provide high-quality care, support and supervision to children attending Honeypot services.

Promote children's emotional wellbeing, confidence and self-esteem.

Encourage positive behaviour using supportive and consistent approaches.

Build positive, professional relationships with children whilst maintaining appropriate boundaries.

Respond appropriately to children's emotional, practical and developmental needs.

Support children to develop friendships, resilience and independence.
Activity Delivery

Support the planning and delivery of creative, educational, recreational and wellbeing activities.

Encourage participation and inclusion in all activities.

Support children to safely enjoy indoor and outdoor experiences.

Contribute ideas, enthusiasm and creativity to maximise children's enjoyment and outcomes.

Help create fun, memorable experiences that leave a lasting positive impact on children's lives.
Residential Support
-
Assist with children's daily routines including mealtimes, bedtime and morning routines.

Help create a welcoming, safe and homely environment during residential breaks.
-
Support housekeeping and cleanliness standards throughout residential programmes.

Undertake residential responsibilities as directed by the Children's Services Leader.
Safeguarding and Safety

Adhere to all safeguarding and child protection procedures.

Promote the safety and wellbeing of children at all times.

Identify, record and report safeguarding concerns appropriately.

Follow all health and safety policies and procedures.

Assist in the management of risk during activities and residential programmes.
Team Contribution

Work collaboratively with colleagues to deliver high-quality services.

Attend planning meetings, supervision sessions, training and team meetings as required.

Contribute positively to a supportive and professional team culture.

Chaperone children during travel when required.
Administration
-
Maintain accurate records and documentation.

Follow GDPR and confidentiality requirements.

Complete reports and administrative tasks as required.
Person Specification Essential
-
Relevant childcare, education, youth work or social care qualification.
-
Experience working directly with children and young people in group settings.
-
Good understanding of safeguarding and child protection.
-
Ability to build positive relationships with children and colleagues.
-
Ability to remain calm and professional when faced with challenges.
-
Strong communication and teamwork skills.
-
Flexible and adaptable approach.
-
Basic IT skills including Microsoft Office.

Full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle.
-
Successful Enhanced DBS clearance.
Desirable
-
Experience within residential childcare, youth work or play settings.
-
Experience supporting vulnerable children or young carers.
-
First Aid qualification.
-
Food Hygiene qualification.
-
Experience delivering activities, sports, creative arts or outdoor learning programmes.
