Teaching Assistant
Full Time, Term Time only plus 2 weeks
Temporary Contract until 31st August 2027
Required to start 1st September 2026
We are looking to appoint a committed, highly motivated and effective Level 3 teaching assistant to support, nurture and inspire our pupils to achieve their full potential. The successful candidate will play a key role in supporting teaching and learning for pupils, which will include those with an EHCP and identified additional needs.
We are seeking an individual who will:
- Support the care, development and education of pupils, including those with EHCPs and additional needs
- Provide high-quality support for learning, working 1:1 and within small groups to enable pupils to make progress
- Work collaboratively with the class teacher and SENCO to plan, deliver and adapt learning programmes
- Help to establish a positive, well-organised and engaging learning environment
- Monitor and evaluate pupil responses to learning activities and contribute to assessment and pupil progress records
- Contribute to EHCP targets, pupil reports and liaise with external agencies where appropriate
- Act as a positive link between home and school
- Meet personal care needs where required
- Administer first aid, where trained, and always places safeguarding at the centre of their practice
The successful candidate will have:
- A commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children in our inclusive school
- NVQ Level 3 teaching assistant qualification (or equivalent qualification)
- Experience of supporting children with specific learning needs
- Good numeracy and literacy skills
- A good understanding of the principles of child development and learning processes
- Knowledge of the use of ICT to support learning and to fulfil the role effectively
- Knowledge of national/foundation stage curriculum and other effective learning strategies
- Is resourceful, enthusiastic and keen to ensure that the highest possible standards of pupil achievement, well-being and personal development are achieved.
- Is committed to promoting the schools inclusive values and ethos, working well as part of a team.
- Excellent communication skills.

Calculation of term time only plus two weeks pay
Term time only plus two additional weeks pay is calculated on the basis of the following:
- Number of teaching weeks - 38 weeks; plus
- Public (bank) holidays - 1.6 weeks (8 days); plus
- Two additional weeks, inclusive of CPD - 2 weeks; plus
- Individual leave entitlement - 5.4 weeks (27 days) or 6.4 weeks (32 days)
Individual leave entitlement is calculated on the length of continuous service. Employees with less than 5 years service will receive 27 days annual leave. Employees with more than 5 years service will receive 32 days annual leave. For example:
Calculation for employees with less than 5 years service:
40 weeks (term time plus 2) + 27 days (annual leave) + 8 days (public holidays) = 47 weeks pay, to be paid in 12 equal monthly instalments
Calculation for employees with more than 5 years service:
40 weeks (term time plus 2) + 32 days (annual leave) + 8 days (public holidays) = 48 weeks pay, to be paid in 12 equal monthly instalments.
