About the Role
We are seeking an experienced and motivated Employers' Liability (EL) and Public Liability (PL) Fee Earner to join our growing Personal Injury team. This is an excellent opportunity for a dedicated legal professional to manage a varied caseload of EL/PL claims while delivering exceptional client service and achieving positive outcomes.
The successful candidate will have experience handling litigated and/or pre-litigated EL and PL matters, working independently while contributing to a collaborative team environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage a caseload of Employers' Liability and Public Liability claims from inception to conclusion.
- Conduct liability investigations and assess prospects of success.
- Obtain and review medical evidence, witness statements, and expert reports.
- Draft legal documents, including pleadings, schedules of loss, and correspondence.
- Negotiate settlements with insurers and defendant solicitors.
- Prepare cases for litigation where appropriate and comply with court directions.
- Maintain accurate file management and ensure compliance with regulatory and firm procedures.
- Provide clear, practical legal advice and excellent client care throughout the claims process.
- Meet billing, productivity, and performance targets.
About You
The ideal candidate will have:
- Previous experience handling Employers' Liability and Public Liability claims.
- Experience managing a caseload with minimal supervision.
- Knowledge of the Civil Procedure Rules and the Personal Injury Pre-Action Protocol.
- Strong negotiation and advocacy skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong organisational and time management abilities.
- A proactive, client-focused approach.
- Experience of litigation is desirable but not essential.
