At Empanda, we offer two care and support services to adults with a learning disability – Respite Care and Supported Living.
Respite Care – Based on the outskirts of Attleborough, Oak Trees is a purpose-built building staffed 24/7, offering short-term accommodation for up to four adults at a time, with over 100 adults staying each year.
Supported Living – Offers personalised support to people living in their own home.
About the role
As a Community Support Worker, you will be based at Oak Trees Respite Service in Attleborough, where you will assess the needs of individuals and develop plans to meet those needs. You will have a good working knowledge of digital care planning but training will be provided.
It is an occupational requirement for some of the postholders to be female as you will assist with personal care needs, 'permitted under Schedule 9, part 1 of the Equality Act 2010', as well as support with budgeting, menu planning, shopping, cooking and domestic tasks. Within our Attleborough and other outreach supported living contracts (Attleborough, Wymondham, Mulbarton and Dereham), you will help customers to understand their tenancy agreement, as well as offering support with decorating, simple DIY and home maintenance.
Care and support also covers health and wellbeing, with our team supporting customers to make and attend appointments with health care professionals, with safety and security, and with establishing and maintaining relationships with friends and family. You will also provide support in accessing facilities within the community, including leisure activities and in promoting independence. Having the use of a car, a full driving license and Business Class 1 Insurance is essential for this role.
You will work within a flexible working rota to provide appropriate support for service users which includes regular sleep-in duties as required, paid at £44.00 per night, as well as evenings and weekend working which attract an enhanced weekday hourly rate of £14.05 and £15.05 for weekend hours (except Bank Holidays which are paid at double time).
