Are you passionate about cooking, baking, and helping others develop valuable life skills? We're looking for an enthusiastic and creative Cookery Tutor to join our team at the Roebuck Centre in Hastings.
This rewarding role offers the opportunity to support adults with Autism Spectrum Conditions and learning disabilities to build confidence, independence, and practical cookery skills in a safe, engaging, and supportive environment.
About the Role:
As our Cookery Tutor, you'll lead practical cooking and baking sessions, helping people develop catering and food preparation skills while promoting confidence and independence. You'll also support the production of cakes and baked goods supplied to local businesses.
Key Responsibilities
- Plan and deliver engaging cookery and baking sessions.
- Support individuals to develop practical catering and food preparation skills.
- Ensure a safe kitchen environment and maintain high food hygiene standards.
- Provide person-centred support to participants where required.
- Maintain accurate records and contribute to support reviews.
- Work collaboratively with colleagues to deliver outstanding services.
- Promote dignity, inclusion, and independence at all times.
About You:
You'll be someone who enjoys working with people, has strong cookery skills, and is passionate about helping others achieve their goals.
Essential Requirements
- Previous experience in cooking and baking.
- Level 2 Award in Food Safety in Catering (or equivalent).
- Level 2 Certificate in Food Preparation and Service (or equivalent).
- Level 1 Certificate in General Cookery in Hospitality (or equivalent).
- Understanding of Autism Spectrum Conditions, including Asperger's Syndrome.
- Experience supporting vulnerable adults or young people with complex needs, either professionally or personally.
- Strong communication and teamwork skills.
- A patient, flexible, and supportive approach.
- Good record-keeping and report-writing skills.
- Full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle.
Desirable
- Food Hygiene, Health & Safety and Fire Safety training.
- Good IT skills, including Microsoft Word and Excel.
- Transferable DBS certificate.
