Join the team at Mint Dosa as a Kitchen Porter / Kitchen Assistant and play an important role in keeping our busy restaurant kitchen clean, organised and running efficiently.
We are looking for a reliable, hardworking and energetic individual who is willing to learn and work as part of a fast-paced kitchen team.
The role will primarily involve maintaining kitchen cleanliness, washing dishes and equipment, supporting food preparation and assisting our chefs with day-to-day kitchen operations. This is a great opportunity for someone looking to gain experience and develop their skills within the hospitality and catering industry.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Wash dishes, pots, pans, utensils and kitchen equipment efficiently
- Maintain high standards of cleanliness throughout all kitchen and preparation areas
- Clean and sanitise work surfaces, equipment, floors and storage areas
- Assist chefs with basic food preparation, including washing, peeling, chopping and portioning ingredients
- Ensure ingredients and preparation areas are ready for service
- Assist with simple food preparation tasks under the supervision of the kitchen team
- Receive, move and organise deliveries and stock when required
- Restock ingredients, cleaning materials and other kitchen supplies
- Keep storage, washing and preparation areas clean and organised
- Dispose of food and general waste correctly
- Follow food hygiene, health & safety and allergen procedures
- Follow correct procedures to minimise the risk of cross-contamination
- Assist Front of House or with food service when required
- Support chefs and other team members during busy service periods
- Complete opening, closing and cleaning duties as required
Experience & Skills
- Previous experience in a restaurant, commercial kitchen or hospitality environment is preferred but not essential
- Basic food preparation experience is beneficial
- Good understanding of cleanliness and hygiene standards
- Ability to follow instructions accurately
- Able to work efficiently in a busy and fast-paced environment
- Good teamwork and communication skills
- Reliable, punctual and hardworking
- Positive attitude and willingness to learn
- Ability to carry out physical kitchen duties, including standing for extended periods and safely moving kitchen supplies and equipment
- Flexibility to work evenings, weekends and bank holidays
- Must have the right to work in the UK
