Job Summary
We are looking for a reliable and flexible Delivery Driver & Shop Assistant to join our team at Dotties Desserts in St. Annes.
This is a casual role mainly covering busy weekend evenings, with additional shifts potentially available to cover staff holidays, sickness and other busy periods.
This is a combined role. When deliveries are available, you will deliver customer orders using your own vehicle. When there are no deliveries, you will assist the team inside the dessert shop.
Pay
Hourly pay will meet or exceed the applicable statutory National Minimum Wage / National Living Wage rate.
You will also receive an additional payment for each completed delivery, based on the delivery distance from the shop:
- Up to 3 miles: £1.00 per delivery
- Over 3 miles up to 5 miles: £1.50 per delivery
- Over 5 miles up to 8 miles: £2.00 per delivery
The delivery payment is in addition to your hourly pay.
Main Duties
- Deliver customer orders safely and promptly
- Provide friendly and professional customer service
- Assist with packing and preparing delivery orders
- Help prepare drinks and desserts after training
- Restock packaging, ingredients and other items
- Maintain cleanliness of the shop and work areas
- Assist other team members during busy periods
- Carry out general shop duties when there are no deliveries
Requirements
- Full valid driving licence
- Access to your own reliable vehicle
- Appropriate insurance covering food delivery must be in place before carrying out deliveries
- Reliable and punctual
- Comfortable working both as a delivery driver and as part of the shop team
- Good communication and customer service skills
- Able to work weekend evenings
- Flexible to provide occasional additional cover when available
Previous takeaway, delivery or hospitality experience is helpful but not essential, as training will be provided.
Working Hours
This is a casual / flexible-hours position.
Most shifts will be during busy weekend evening periods. Additional shifts may occasionally be offered to cover holidays, sickness or busy periods.
There are no guaranteed regular weekly hours, and availability can be discussed in advance.
