Teaching Assistant – SEN School | Fareham
We are currently looking for a dedicated and enthusiastic Teaching Assistant to join a supportive specialist school in Fareham, working with pupils aged 11–16.
This is a fantastic opportunity for someone who is patient, resilient and passionate about helping young people overcome barriers to learning. The school supports pupils with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs, so experience working with young people who may display challenging behaviour would be highly beneficial.
The ideal candidate:
- Has experience working with children or young people, either in education, youth work, coaching or similar settings
- Is calm, confident and able to build positive relationships
- Has a good understanding of boundaries and behaviour management
- Is resilient, patient and adaptable
- Can encourage and motivate pupils who may be disengaged from education
- Has a sporty or active background – experience in sports coaching, PE, fitness or youth activities would be particularly desirable
- Can work effectively as part of a close-knit team
You don’t necessarily need previous school-based experience for this role. We are also keen to hear from candidates with backgrounds in sports coaching, mentoring, youth work, care, outdoor activities or similar, who are looking to make a positive difference in an educational setting.
The role:
As a Teaching Assistant, you will support pupils both in and outside of the classroom, helping them to engage with learning, develop confidence and build positive relationships.
You will work closely with teaching staff to provide encouragement, structure and support, while helping to create a safe and positive environment for all pupils.
If you're someone who enjoys working with young people, being active and making a genuine difference, we'd love to hear from you.
