Carlingwark House Care Home is looking for a caring, reliable and experienced Cook to join our friendly team on a full-time, 40-hour-per-week basis. You'll play a vital role in enhancing the wellbeing of our residents by creating home-cooked meals that are both nutritious and enjoyable.
About the Role
As our Cook, you'll be responsible for planning, preparing and serving high-quality meals that meet the individual dietary needs and preferences of our residents. Working in a well-organised kitchen, you'll help create a positive dining experience that residents look forward to every day.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare and cook fresh, nutritious meals, snacks and desserts.
- Plan varied seasonal menus in line with residents' preferences and nutritional needs.
- Cater for special diets, allergies and texture-modified meals.
- Maintain exceptional standards of food hygiene, cleanliness and kitchen safety.
- Order food, manage stock levels and minimise waste.
- Work within agreed budgets while maintaining excellent quality and presentation.
- Ensure compliance with food safety legislation and company policies.
- Work closely with the care team to support residents' health, wellbeing and dining experience.
About You
We're looking for someone who has:
- Previous experience working as a Cook, Chef or in a similar catering role.
- A good understanding of food hygiene and food safety regulations.
- Knowledge of nutrition and dietary requirements for older people.
- The ability to work independently and manage a busy kitchen.
- Excellent organisational and time-management skills.
- A warm, caring and resident-focused approach.
- A Level 2 Food Hygiene Certificate (or willingness to obtain one).
