About Us
John Cribb & Sons Ltd is a long‑established, family‑run electrical wholesaler with 11 branches across the South. Most of our business runs through trade credit accounts, and we are now looking for a proactive Credit Controller to take ownership of our cash collection, credit risk, and daily sales ledger routines.
The Role
You will be the main owner of our trade sales ledger — combining confident phone‑based debt collection with structured ledger administration, credit checks, and credit insurance management. This role suits someone who enjoys running a tight ledger, making chase calls, reducing aged debt, and keeping cashflow moving.
Key Responsibilities
- Debt collection — Proactively chase overdue balances with firm, professional phone contact.
- New account onboarding — Issue application forms, run credit checks and set up approved accounts.
- Credit insurance — Maintain credit limits, monitor compliance, and prepare/submit claims.
- Daily ledger routines —
- Produce the Sales Report
- Generate the Cash Analysis Report
- Update daily banking sheets
- Review live bank statements
- Post and allocate customer payments
- Customer communication — Send invoices, credit notes, and monthly statements.
- Query resolution — Handle incoming calls and resolve invoice disputes.
What We’re Looking For
- Experience: Solid Credit Control background (typically 2–4 years), ideally in electrical wholesaling, builders/plumbers merchant or similar trade.
- Risk skills: Confident using commercial credit checking tools and credit insurance portals.
- Communication: Assertive, confident phone manner with the ability to maintain strong customer relationships.
- Technical: Good Excel skills and experience with accounting/ERP systems.
- Mindset: Methodical, organised, fast and resilient.
- Speed & accuracy: Able to work quickly without compromising quality — essential in a fast‑moving trade environment.
Holiday entitlement 4 weeks plus bank holidays per annum
Pay: £27,000.00-£33,000.00 per year
