ERL are looking for an experienced and highly organised Transport Manager to oversee the day-to-day operation of our fleet of 25 HGV trucks. This is an excellent opportunity for a motivated individual who is passionate about transport, compliance, and delivering exceptional customer service.
Key Responsibilities
Manage the daily transport operation, ensuring efficient vehicle scheduling and route planning.
Ensure full compliance with Operator Licence obligations, DVSA regulations, and all relevant transport legislation.
Supervise and support a team of drivers, promoting high standards of safety, professionalism, and performance.
Monitor vehicle maintenance schedules, inspections, MOTs, and servicing to maximise fleet availability.
Manage driver hours, tachograph compliance, and Working Time Directive requirements.
Investigate incidents, implement corrective actions, and maintain accurate transport records.
Liaise with customers, suppliers, and internal departments to ensure deliveries are completed safely and on time.
Identify opportunities to improve efficiency, reduce operating costs, and enhance service levels.
Assist with recruitment, induction, training, and ongoing development of drivers.
Requirements:
Previous experience as a Transport Manager within an HGV operation.
Strong knowledge of UK/International transport legislation, Operator Licence requirements, and compliance.
A valid International Transport Manager Certificate of Professional Competence (CPC) is essential.
Excellent organisational, communication, and leadership skills.
Experience using transport management and fleet management systems.
Ability to work under pressure and make effective operational decisions.
A proactive approach with excellent attention to detail.
