Job Overview
We are seeking a skilled and dedicated Bus and Coach Mechanic to join our maintenance team. The successful candidate will be responsible for routine safety inspections, repairing, and maintaining a fleet of buses and coaches to ensure safety, reliability, and optimal performance. Responsibilities
- Conduct routine safety inspections and diagnostics on buses and coaches to identify mechanical, electrical, or structural issues
- Perform repairs and maintenance including engine work, brake systems, suspension, steering, and transmission components
- Fabricate and modify parts as needed using welding, soldering, and assembly techniques
- Interpret schematics and technical manuals to troubleshoot complex systems effectively
- Utilise hand tools, power tools, welding equipment, and other specialised machinery for repairs and fabrication tasks
- Repair or replace electrical components, wiring harnesses, lighting systems, and electronic controls
- Maintain accurate records of all repairs performed and parts used in compliance with company standards
- Ensure all work complies with safety regulations and organisational policies
Skills
- Strong mechanical knowledge with experience in vehicle repair and maintenance
- Proficiency in reading electrical schematics and technical diagrams
- Skilled in fabrication techniques including welding and soldering
- Experience with electrical systems within vehicles is highly desirable
- Competence in using hand tools, power tools, welding equipment, and assembly fixtures
- Excellent problem-solving skills with an organised approach to diagnostics and repairs
- Strong customer service skills to effectively communicate with team members and clients
- Prior experience working on buses or similar large vehicles is needed
Pay: £44,200.00-£52,000.00 per year
