Our client is a resilient individual navigating life after a complex RTA. While he is engaging and sociable, the brain injury, coupled with significant life events, presents specific challenges:
- Complex History: History of previous drug use and suicide attempts.
- Behavioural Presentation: May present with occasional challenging behaviour in the form of verbal aggression, which requires a calm, consistent, and de-escalation-focused approach.
- Physical Needs: Requires general support and assistance due to being an amputee.
Hours of Work:
Tuesday and Wednesday 6 hours a day
✅ Key Responsibilities
As his support worker, you will play a crucial role in his rehabilitation and quality of life:
- Community Access: Facilitating and supporting safe and meaningful engagement in the local Birmingham community.
- General Care & Support: Providing physical and emotional support, including assisting with daily living tasks as required.
- Risk Management: Maintaining a safe environment and adhering to established support plans, with particular attention to his history.
- Documentation: Accurate and professional record-keeping of daily activities and observations.
We are looking for a Male Support Worker with the experience below:
- Essential: Proven experience working with individuals with Acquired Brain Injury (ABI).
- Experience with Challenging Behaviour: Demonstrable skills in managing verbal aggression and using de-escalation techniques.
- Compassion and Consistency: An empathetic approach combined with professional boundaries and consistency.
- Desirable: Experience working with individuals with complex physical needs (amputation) and mental health/substance use history.
- Required: Full clean driving license and access to a vehicle (preferred, not essential).
