We are seeking a detail-oriented People & Compliance Officer to oversee and deliver key administrative, cultural, and operational requirements. Reporting directly to the Commercial Director, you will take full ownership of key core administrative functions - spanning HR, payroll, employee benefits and corporate compliance - and coordinate our community initiatives.

Success Metrics
- Employee Satisfaction & Engagement: Continuous maintenance of our high Employee Satisfaction Survey results through proactive culture initiatives, regular benchmarking, and clear communication.
- Audit-Ready Operational Compliance: Flawless maintenance of HR, H&S, and administrative controls to ensure 100% audit readiness across ISO 27001, ISO 9001, DCC, Cyber Essentials Plus, and IASME Cyber Assurance.
- Seamless HR & Payroll Execution: Zero-defect, on-time monthly payroll data submissions, accompanied by smooth, compliant onboarding/offboarding and proactive benefits administration
- Corporate Governance: Manage critical administrative lifecycles for corporate assets, including trademark registry updates, insurance policy reviews, and external vendor management.
- Community Impact & Brand Engagement: Successful execution of local educational partnerships, apprenticeship programmes, and CSR initiatives that strengthen our presence as a community-minded employer of choice.
- Executive & Operational Synergy: Effective administrative partnership across the business to ensure continulous improvement to ensure effectiand high standards are met.
Key Responsibilities
1. People, Payroll & Culture
- Culture, Engagement & Benchmarking: Actively foster a supportive workplace culture aligned with our values. Coordinate regular engagement surveys, conduct market benchmarking on salary and benefits, analyse feedback, and drive initiatives to maintain our exceptional Employee Satisfaction Survey results.
- Onboarding & Offboarding: Oversee end-to-end employee onboarding and offboarding—including recruitment coordination, candidate vetting, UK Right to Work checks, DBS background checks, asset retrieval, and exit interviews.
- Payroll & Benefits Management: Oversee complete employee benefit administration (pensions, healthcare, perks) and collaborate with our Accountant and Commercial Director to ensure accurate payroll data is submitted on time each month.
- Systems & HR Contact: Maintain accurate, compliant employee records in line with UK GDPR. Ensure we are using market-leading HR software. Act as the primary internal contact for HR queries, coordinating with our outsourced HR consultant as needed.
- Community & Education Liaison - Drive company social value goals by coordinating charity partnerships, volunteer initiatives, and local outreach. Act as our liaison with local schools and universities to position Assure Technical as an employer of choice, overseeing the end-to-end apprenticeship program in coordination with external providers and team managers.
2. Corporate Governance
- Framework Alignment & Audits: Partner with leadership to maintain operational and HR controls across ISO 27001, ISO 9001, Defence Cyber Certification (DCC), Cyber Essentials Plus, and IASME Cyber Assurance. Lead administrative preparations for internal/external audits and support rollout for new standards.
- Health & Safety Management: Oversee company H&S compliance (risk assessments, DSE assessments for office/remote staff, emergency procedures, first aid) and maintain up-to-date H&S logs.
- Policies, Governance & Training: Coordinate company handbooks, Acceptable Use Policies (AUP), supplier and customer governance documentation, and maintain audit-ready HR compliance.
- Asset, Risk & Opportunity Management: Manage critical administrative lifecycles for corporate assets, including trademark registry updates, insurance policy reviews, and external vendor management. Liaise with relevant internal stakeholders to ensure corrective and preventive actions are implemented effectively and in a timely manner.
3. General Support
- Leadership Assistance: Provide executive-level support to the Commercial Director and leadership team, including calendar/diary management, meeting coordination, minute-taking, and drafting reports or presentations.
- Ad Hoc Projects: Undertake ad hoc research, operational projects, and additional administrative duties as reasonable and required to support business growth.
Qualifications, Skills & Attributes
Required
- Education: 5 GCSEs at Grade C/4 or above (including Maths & English); plus A-Levels or equivalent qualifications.
- Experience: 2+ years of administration experience
- HR, Payroll & Benefits Knowledge: A good understanding of UK employment law, practical experience of managing payroll data submission, employee benefit administration, and driving staff engagement initiatives, surveys, and benchmarking.
- Compliance Knowledge: Understanding of UK GDPR, Health & Safety compliance, and familiarity with quality/security frameworks (e.g. ISO 27001, ISO 9001, Cyber Essentials Plus).
- Technical Skills: Technically adept and a confident user of Microsoft/Google Workspace, HRIS tools, HubSpot CRM, and project management tools.
- Core Traits: Highly organised, detail-oriented, with proven stakeholder management skills and proactive with a flexible can-do attitude. Excellent written and verbal communication skills, paired with uncompromising discretion for confidential data.
Desirable
- Relevant UK qualifications in Business Administration or HR (e.g. CIPD, BTEC, ILM).
- Tech, cybersecurity, or professional services sector experience.
- Internal auditor training or UKIPO trademark filing administration familiarity
- Previous experience using Google Workspace, HubSpot CRM, ClickUp, or Safe HR.
- Experience coordinating with outsourced UK HR/legal providers.
- Clean UK Driving Licence.
