ABOUT THIS ROLE
As a key member of the Trafalgar Theatres’ Central Operations’ Team the role of Venues FM Support Manager, working directly with the Asset & Property Manager and the Group Facilities Manager, is vital to the success of our business. The postholder will ensure that our buildings and facilities are resilient, compliant and well maintained to support all venue activity and operations.
In particular the role will provide proactive, flexible, and hands-on facilities management support across our portfolio of theatres and entertainment venues. The role will ensure that all sites are safe, compliant, efficiently maintained, and fully operational to deliver exceptional customer and visitor experiences.
You will work closely with venue teams, supporting asset performance, statutory compliance, preventative maintenance, and rapid response to operational needs across multiple sites.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Facilities & Maintenance
- Working with Venues’ buildings and technical managers, deliver a proactive planned preventative maintenance (PPM) programme relevant to each venue
- Support reactive maintenance through rapid coordination of contractors and suppliers to minimise risks arising from business interruption.
- Ensure all building systems (HVAC, electrical, mechanical, life safety) operate effectively
- Monitor asset condition and lifecycle planning, recommending upgrades and replacements
- Maintain up-to-date asset registers across all venues
- Support digital systems (CAFM systems, compliance platforms) in relation to implementation, asset tagging and for reporting and scheduling
Multi-Site Support
- Travel regularly between venues to support local teams with facilities expertise
- Provide hands-on troubleshooting and operational support
- Act as a mobile specialist resource to resolve complex issues quickly and efficiently
- Ensure consistent standards and the implementation of shared best practice across all venues
Compliance & Health & Safety
- Ensure venues comply with all statutory regulations and industry standards, including, for example:
- Fire safety
- Electrical safety (EICR, PAT testing)
- Gas safety
- Water hygiene (Legionella)
- Asbestos Management
- Maintain robust compliance records and documentation
- Support risk assessments and method statements (RAMS)
- Assist venue teams in audit preparation and inspections
- Ensure best practice and value for money from contractors and ensure that they work safely and in line with site procedures
Other
- Provide support for the group’s environmental and sustainability policy and strategies, from an asset management perspective, to drive carbon impact and energy reduction initiatives.
- Create and maintain collaborative and supportive working relationships with the venues and our key external stakeholders and partners.
- Contribute to Facilities Management procurement strategies and benchmarking
ABOUT YOU
Commercially savvy, enthusiastic and capable of influencing others (including senior members of the TE team and third-party clients) you’ll be energetic, proactive, results-focussed and creative in your approach.
You’ll be resilient, able to communicate clearly and excellent at forming working relationships with others.
- Proven experience in facilities management within theatres, live events, entertainment venues, or complex public-facing environments
- Experience managing multi-site operations or mobile FM roles
- Strong knowledge of building systems maintenance and statutory compliance
- Experience managing contractors and service providers
- Demonstrable experience in PPM planning and reactive maintenance coordination
Essential Skills & Competencies
- Highly flexible and adaptable, able to respond to rapidly changing operational needs
- Strong problem-solving skills with a hands-on, practical approach
- Excellent stakeholder management – able to work effectively with venue teams and senior management
- Strong organisational and planning skills across multiple sites
- Ability to prioritise in fast-paced, event-driven environments
- Clear and confident communicator
Technical Knowledge / Good working knowledge of:
- HVAC systems
- Electrical and mechanical systems
- Fire safety systems
- Building compliance regulations (UK statutory requirements)
- Familiarity with CAFM systems and asset management tools
Qualifications
Essential:
- IOSH Managing Safely (or equivalent)
- Recognised qualification in Facilities Management, Building Services, Engineering or similar (Level 3+)
Desirable:
- NEBOSH General Certificate
- IWFM membership or equivalent
- Technical trade background (e.g. electrical, mechanical)
Other Requirements
- Full UK driving licence
- Willingness to travel extensively across sites
- Flexibility to work evenings and weekends on occasion and as required
PERFORMANCE MEASURES
- Venue recognition for the provision of an agile, proactive and timely maintenance support function
- Delivery of projects within agreed time and budgetary parameters
- Working within and supporting the venue Asset Management Plans through the local teams and within each venue’s agreed budgets
- Achieve best value for money for maintenance services and reduce venue costs where possible.
- Through the venue director support the development of local facilities and maintenance skills in venues and the retention of key personnel.
- Ensure full compliance with regulatory and best practice requirements relevant to the sector and theatre operations including the accurate recording, reporting and monitoring systems.
