This new role involves leading all aspects of the Product development and validation programme for electrical (switchboard) products for use on Naval surface/sub-surface platforms.
What you will be doing:
- Provide Programme and Technical leadership and support to the Work Package team and comply with the Engineering Function's policies throughout the life cycle of the work package.
- Define and own the Product Development Programme necessary to achieve the milestones of the Project Master Programme, which deliver demonstrators / prototypes for verification of the enabling technology and manufacturability.
- Introduce and validate tools and methods in the engineering and manufacturing teams to ensure robust design and production at pace.
- Manage the verification programmes to ensure all requirements are met.
- Ensure that the capability and infrastructure is in place to deliver the planned validation of technology, components and assemblies (e.g. rigs, outsource test capability, prototype fabrication resources, etc).
Position Qualifications
- Degree in relevant Engineering and/or Science/Technology subject (or significant and relevant experience).
- Experience delivering in multiple, complex engineering roles.
- Experience working in both Customer and Supply-chain facing environments
- Knowledge and experience in Development / Verification lifecycle and associated processes in a regulated industry.
- The role is Bristol-based, but candidate may be expected to travel to support / lead activity from the RR assembly and test facility (Winsford), and/or in the Supply chain, as required.
Preferred requirements:
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and systems thinking skills
- Previous experience in Naval-Marine and/or Electrical Power industry is preferred. Knowledge of LV marine electrical systems would be beneficial.
- Full and Clean Driving Licence, UK Passport Holder
- Must be fluent in both written and spoken English
- NOTE : UK NATIONAL and ability to hold SC clearance is a requirement of this role due to Project(s) classification. Dual-National (UK) may be considered, subject to clearance.
- Familiarity with APQP or equivalent quality framework would be beneficial.
