Passive Fire Door Working Supervisor (Small Works & Sites)
Key Responsibilities
- Supervise and manage fire door operatives and specialist subcontractors carrying out passive fire door works.
- Plan, combine and coordinate multiple small works packages to maximise efficiency and minimise repeat visits.
- Carry out fire door surveys, inspections and measured works, including identifying scopes of repair or replacement.
- Ensure all works comply with Building Regulations, Approved Document B, BS 8214, relevant BS/EN standards and manufacturer guidance.
- Undertake quality inspections of fire doors and associated components (frames, ironmongery, seals, glazing and signage).
- Accurately complete job sheets, survey reports, inspection records and photographic evidence.
- Manage day-to-day site activities, labour allocation and sequencing of works.
- Liaise with clients, site managers, fire risk assessors and contracts management to agree scope, access and programmes.
- Identify non-compliant installations and arrange corrective or follow-on works.
- Monitor subcontractor performance, workmanship and compliance.
- Ensure operatives are competent, briefed and inducted for site-specific works.
- Enforce health & safety standards, RAMS and safe systems of work at all times.
- Support audits, third-party inspections and handover documentation.
Knowledge & Experience
- Proven experience supervising passive fire door works, particularly small works and reactive environments.
- Strong knowledge of fire door inspection, remedial and installation standards.
- Experience undertaking surveys and measured works.
- Ability to coordinate multiple jobs across different sites.
- Experience managing direct labour and subcontractors.
- Familiarity with digital inspection, surveying or reporting systems is desirable.
Qualifications & Training (Essential / Desirable)
- NVQ Level 2 or 3 in Fire Door Installation / Passive Fire Protection (or equivalent).
- Fire Door Inspection qualification (e.g. FDIS, BM TRADA or equivalent).
- CSCS card (Skilled Worker or Supervisor level).
- SSSTS (SMSTS desirable depending on project requirements).
- Asbestos Awareness.
- First Aid at Work (desirable).

- Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple small works simultaneously.
- High attention to detail and commitment to compliance.
- Confident communicator able to supervise operatives and subcontractors.
- Practical, solution-focused approach to surveys and remedial works.
- Competent using tablets, reporting software and basic IT systems.

- Promote and maintain a strong health & safety culture on all sites.
- Ensure compliance with company procedures, site rules and statutory requirements.
- Promptly report accidents, near misses and non-conformances.
