Bookkeeper Administrator
KI Metals is a Birmingham-based steel stockholder supplying steel products to trade and retail customers. We are looking for a reliable and experienced part-time Bookkeeper Administrator to manage day-to-day bookkeeping and accounts administration using Xero.
This is an on-site role suited to someone practical, accurate and organised, who can take ownership of routine bookkeeping and help keep our accounts, paperwork and records properly maintained.
Key responsibilities:
- Maintain day-to-day bookkeeping records using Xero.
- Process purchase invoices, supplier statements and payment records.
- Raise and record sales invoices where required.
- Reconcile bank transactions, supplier accounts and customer accounts.
- Monitor aged debtors and support credit control follow-ups.
- Maintain accurate purchase ledger, sales ledger and general accounts records.
- Prepare information for VAT returns, management accounts and external accountants.
- Keep accounting documents, invoices, receipts and supporting records organised.
- Assist with payroll information, staff records and basic HR/admin paperwork where required.
- Maintain and organise health and safety documents, training records and compliance paperwork.
- Support general office administration where needed.
Essential requirements:
- Previous bookkeeping or accounts administration experience.
- Practical working knowledge of Xero is essential.
- Good understanding of bank reconciliations, purchase ledger, sales ledger and VAT record keeping.
- Strong attention to detail and numerical accuracy.
- Confident using Microsoft Excel, email and general office systems.
- Able to work independently and keep records tidy and up to date.
- Reliable, organised and trustworthy with confidential financial information.
Desirable experience:
- Experience in a small or medium-sized business environment.
- Experience supporting VAT returns, payroll information, credit control or management accounts preparation.
- Experience maintaining health and safety, training or compliance documents.
- Experience in construction, manufacturing, steel, engineering, wholesale or stockholding environments would be useful but is not essential.
Working arrangements:
- Part-time, permanent position.
- 25 hours per week.
- Working pattern to be agreed, ideally spread across Monday to Friday.
- Fully on-site at B18 7AD, Birmingham.
- Start date as soon as possible.
Pay and benefits:
- £16 to £20 per hour, depending on relevant experience.
- Company pension.
What we are looking for:
We are looking for someone who can bring structure, accuracy and reliability to the accounts function. The right person will be confident using Xero, careful with detail, comfortable asking questions when needed and able to help us keep our financial and administrative records properly organised.
Pay: £16.00-£20.00 per hour
