We are seeking experienced Thermal Insulation Engineers to join an upcoming industrial shutdown project at Fawley, Southampton.
The successful candidates will be responsible for installing, repairing and removing thermal insulation systems across industrial pipework, vessels and equipment. Applicants must have previous shutdown or industrial site experience and be able to provide relevant references.
This is a temporary shutdown position expected to run for approximately 2.5 months, from 27 July 2026 until November 2026
.
Duration: Approximately 2.5 months
Working pattern: Sunday to Friday
Allowances: Travel and lodging allowances may be considered for suitable candidates
Responsibilities
- Install thermal insulation materials on industrial pipework, vessels, tanks and equipment.
- Measure, cut, shape and fit insulation materials in accordance with project requirements.
- Remove and replace existing insulation systems where required.
- Install protective coverings, finishes and cladding where applicable.
- Read and follow technical drawings, specifications and work instructions.
- Inspect completed work to ensure it meets project and quality standards.
- Use hand tools and power tools safely and correctly.
- Work alongside supervisors, scaffolders and other trades to meet shutdown deadlines.
- Follow site health and safety procedures, risk assessments and method statements.
- Maintain a clean, organised and safe working area.
- Report any defects, hazards or delays to site supervision.
- Complete work efficiently while maintaining a high standard of workmanship.
Skills and Experience
- Previous experience working as a Thermal Insulation Engineer.
- Previous industrial shutdown experience.
- Valid TICA card.
- CCNSG Safety Passport preferred.
- Good knowledge of industrial insulation materials and installation methods.
- Ability to read and understand technical drawings and specifications.
- Competent in the use of relevant hand tools and power tools.
- Strong understanding of health and safety requirements on industrial sites.
- Ability to work effectively as part of a team.
- Reliable attendance and good timekeeping.
- Ability to work the full shutdown period.
- Previous references must be available.
