Job summary
Somerset NHS Foundation Trust is looking to recruit a Medical Records Courier (Band 2) to join our busy Medical Records Department based in Yeovil. This is an important operational role providing essential support to clinical services and helping to ensure patient records are available at the right place and at the right time.
The Medical Records Courier will be based at our office on Artillery Road, Yeovil. The role is for 22.5 hours per week, worked flexibly over Monday to Friday in accordance with the needs of the department, which operates between 6:00am and 6:00pm. The post holder will also participate in a 1 in 3 weekend rota, working 8:15am to 12:00 noon, with these hours forming part of the contracted weekly hours.
The postholder will play a key role in supporting the safe and effective care of our patients by managing the timely and secure transportation of medical records between the Medical Records department and Yeovil Hospital. They will ensure records are handled with confidentiality, accuracy, and care at all times

Main duties, tasks & skills required
Transport and deliver case notes safely and efficiently between locations, ensuring timely and accurate delivery
Retrieve, file, sort, and track case notes, ensuring accurate record of movements
Load, unload, sort, and file case notes in numerical order within the library system
Respond to telephone queries and urgent requests, confirming correct patient information
Carry out daily vehicle checks, maintain fuel levels, and ensure the safe use and upkeep of the courier van
Use equipment safely (e.g. trolleys, cages, scanners) and follow manual handling guidelines at all times
