The Role
We are seeking a reliable and hardworking Kitchen Assistant & Domestic Assistant to join our friendly team at our home in Launcells, Bude.
In this varied role, you will support the kitchen with daily food preparation and service, while also helping maintain high standards of cleanliness throughout the home. You will play an important part in ensuring residents receive nutritious meals and live in a safe, hygienic, and comfortable environment.
Key Responsibilities
Kitchen Duties
- Assist with meal preparation and general kitchen duties.
- Support the kitchen team to provide nutritious, well-balanced meals for residents.
- Ensure high standards of food safety, hygiene, and cleanliness are maintained in the kitchen.
- Store food correctly and assist with stock rotation and monitoring supplies.
- Work with care staff to ensure residents' dietary needs, allergies, and special diets are met.
Cleaning & Domestic Duties
- Maintain high standards of cleanliness throughout the home, including communal areas, resident rooms, bathrooms, dining rooms, and staff areas.
- Use the Care Control system to record cleaning tasks and maintain accurate hygiene records.
- Follow infection prevention and control procedures, including correct use of cleaning products and PPE.
- Ensure cleaning equipment is used safely and stored correctly.
- Report any hazards or maintenance issues identified while carrying out duties.
Required Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
Essential
- A positive, can-do attitude and willingness to support both kitchen and domestic tasks.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Good organisation and time management skills.
- Understanding of the importance of hygiene and cleanliness in a care home environment.
Desirable
- Previous experience in a kitchen, food preparation, cleaning, or hospitality role.
- Basic understanding of food safety regulations and kitchen hygiene standards.
- Experience in a healthcare, care home, or hospitality setting would be advantageous.
