Altrad is currently seeking an experienced Senior/Principal Piping Engineer to join the team based in Teesside.
The successful candidate will lead piping engineering and design activities across industrial projects, delivering high-quality, cost-effective solutions while providing technical leadership and supporting the development of engineering and design teams.
Key Deliverables:
- Lead piping engineering and design activities for industrial projects, including the development of 2D and 3D layouts, construction isometrics, and associated engineering deliverables.
- Supervise, mentor, and develop a team of piping engineers and designers to achieve project objectives.
- Ensure piping designs comply with applicable industry standards, client specifications, project requirements, codes, and regulatory obligations.
- Deliver technically sound, cost-effective, and fit-for-purpose engineering solutions.
- Manage and control project schedules, work-hour budgets, and resource requirements to ensure projects are delivered on time and within budget.
- Coordinate effectively with multi-disciplinary engineering teams to deliver integrated project solutions.
- Provide technical leadership for piping system design, analysis, optimisation, and complex problem-solving activities.
- Support the successful execution of Greenfield and Brownfield projects across multiple industrial sectors.
- Resolve technical and contractual issues arising during project execution.
- Review and approve engineering deliverables and design documentation.
- Promote engineering excellence, continuous improvement, and best practice within the piping discipline.
- Maintain effective communication with internal stakeholders, discipline leads, clients, and external partners.
- Support business growth through the successful delivery of FEED and EPC projects.
Key Requirements / Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline, with a focus on Piping System Design.
- Minimum of 10 years’ specialised experience in piping engineering.
- Extensive knowledge of piping engineering principles, standards, material science, and industry best practices.
- Demonstrable experience delivering FEED and EPC projects within industrial sectors.
- Strong working knowledge of 2D and 3D CAD design processes and associated engineering software.
- Proven experience leading, supervising, mentoring, and developing engineering and design teams.
- Experience within Sustainable Fuels, Hydrogen, Pharmaceutical, Chemical, Oil & Gas, or similar process industries.
- Experience managing project schedules, work-hour budgets, and resource requirements.
- Strong technical problem-solving skills, with the ability to resolve complex engineering and contractual issues.
- Demonstrable experience working across both Greenfield and Brownfield project environments.
- Excellent interpersonal, leadership, and communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Ability to build and maintain effective relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
- Strong understanding of engineering quality, compliance, and project delivery requirements.
