Company Description
At SFR Solicitors, we specialise in representing victims of violent crime, securing compensation through the Criminal Injuries Compensation Authority (CICA). Our approach combines technical excellence with genuinely client-centred delivery, supporting vulnerable individuals through what are often complex and sensitive claims.
We are a growing, forward-thinking practice, leveraging technology and streamlined processes to deliver efficient, high-quality legal services at scale.
About the Role
We are looking for a commercially minded Solicitor to join our expanding CICA team. This is a fully remote role offering high levels of autonomy, with the opportunity to manage your own caseload end-to-end while contributing to the continued growth and sophistication of the practice.
You will handle a varied caseload of CICA and criminal injury matters, from initial instruction through to appeal, while maintaining excellent client care standards. The role also offers scope to support process improvement, supervise junior team members, and contribute to broader business objectives.
This position would suit a solicitor who is confident managing files independently, comfortable working in a volume-driven environment, and motivated by both client outcomes and commercial performance.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage a full caseload of CICA claims from instruction through to settlement, review, or appeal
- Provide pragmatic, commercially aware legal advice on eligibility, quantum, and evidential requirements
- Prepare and submit applications, reviews, and appeals in accordance with CICA rules and deadlines
- Analyse evidence including medical records, police reports, and expert documentation
- Act as the primary client contact, delivering clear, empathetic, and timely communication
- Proactively engage with clients by telephone to progress claims and improve engagement
- Assist clients with onboarding, applications, and portal-related queries
- Prepare appeal submissions and supporting documentation
- Liaise with CICA, medical experts, counsel, and third parties
- Ensure compliance with SRA Standards & Regulations and internal governance frameworks
- Maintain accurate records using case management systems and legal tech platforms
- Contribute to process optimisation and operational efficiency initiatives
- Provide guidance or supervision to paralegals and junior staff where required
- Support business development and growth of the CICA practice
Key Requirements
· Qualified Solicitor (England & Wales) with a current practising certificate
· Experience in CICA claims, personal injury, criminal injury, or related litigation
· Proven ability to manage a caseload independently in a deadline-driven environment
· Strong understanding of CICA framework (or ability to quickly develop expertise)
· Excellent client care skills, particularly with vulnerable clients
· Strong drafting, analytical, and organisational skills
· Ability to manage competing priorities and high-volume caseloads
· Comfortable using case management systems and digital tools
· Good working knowledge of SRA compliance requirements
Desirable
- Experience working with vulnerable clients or sensitive matters.
- Familiarity with case management systems / legal CRM platforms.
- Exposure to criminal law or personal injury practice areas.
