Thrift Taco is an East London food brand serving chef-driven Mexican food from our residencies at Howl at the Moon and Great Beyond Brewing. We focus on great ingredients, housemade sauces, strong cooking and creating a fun, welcoming atmosphere without taking ourselves too seriously.
We’re looking for an experienced cook or chef to support our weekend breakfast and brunch service at Howl at the Moon.
Important:
This role is focused on weekend daytime service. Typical shifts are expected to be approximately:
- Saturday: 10am or earlier–2/3pm
- Sunday: 10am or earlier–2/3pm
Exact hours may vary depending on trading, prep needs, events and rota requirements. There may also be an opportunity to grow into Friday lunch, additional daytime prep or other service hours as the business grows.
Weekend morning availability is essential for this role.
What you’ll do:
- Prepare for breakfast / brunch service
- Cook and plate dishes consistently
- Maintain quality, portion and presentation standards
- Keep the kitchen organised, clean and ready for service
- Follow food safety, allergen and hygiene procedures
- Support stock, prep lists and handover notes
- Work alongside kitchen assistants, runners and other team members where required
- Help improve brunch systems as the business grows
We’re looking for someone who is:
- Reliable and punctual
- Organised and efficient
- Calm under pressure
- Comfortable working independently where required
- Comfortable taking responsibility and ownership
- Low ego and easy to work with
- Interested in quality food and hospitality
Experience in breakfast, brunch, café, pub, casual dining, street food or independent restaurant kitchens is particularly relevant.
We care far more about reliability, ownership, consistency and attitude than fine dining experience or fancy CVs.
